Alnmouth walks

Walk 1 - Alnmouth village walk
An easy ¾ walk around the village with one set of steps down Prospect Place. The steps can be avoided by walking on down Peases Lane.

Walk 2 - Lovers' walk
Most of the ¾ mile walk is along the river, with one short flight of steps at the bridge. Otherwise, easy walking.

Walk 3 - Lesbury and the River Aln
2½ miles (with an optional diversion to Lesbury Church). There may be some muddy stretches along the riverbank and a climb up to the road. Boots are recommended.

Walk 4 - To the Beacon
About 2 miles with a steep grassy climb up to the bronze age encampment and then hilltop paths with stunning views from the historic battery. Stout shoes recommended.

Walk 5 - To Foxton and the Beacon
Just over 2 miles along the beach and return along the top, with grassy paths and a steep descent.

Walk 6 - The estuary walk
A short walk of a little over 1 mile, along riverside paths, with a short flight of steps and back along the beach.

Walk 7 - To Church Hill
A longer walk, 5 miles there and 5 miles back with great views of Alnmouth from the far side of the river and the historical interest of Church Hill.

Walk 8 - The river walk to Greenrigg
Just under 6 miles up river and into the countryside. Lots of interest on the way. Could be muddy, so stout footwear recommended.

Walk 9 - To Warkworth
4 miles to Warkworth, along good paths or the lovely stretch of beach if preferred, with marvellous sea views, to the picturesque village of Warkworth. There is an hourly bus service for the return journey or a healthy walk back.

Walk 10 - The riverbank walk to Alnwick
Just under 4 miles along the banks of the river Aln and field paths which can be muddy at times. Walking boots recommended. This is a beautiful country walk almost entirely away from any road, but finishes right in the centre of Alnwick town. There is a return bus every hour, if desired.

Walk 11 - To Boulmer
3 mile walk to Boulmer, or beyond, by beach and rocks, returning along the dunes and the tops, with some climbing. Or back along the shore if preferred. A great coastal walk.
